Organic marketer branches out into a new social sales program.
September 9, 2013
By: Melissa Meisel
Multi-level marketing is a staple in the household and personal care industries, as seen with the success of companies such as Avon, Blyth, Nu Skin and Rodan+Fields. But a new contender has its foot in the door, and its unique selling point is that all products are completely natural. In the Pangea Organics program, “Beauty Ecologists” make an initial investment of $199 and receive a 20-35% commission on all product sales. If they get their friends to enroll as Beauty Ecologists, they also receive a bonus based on the sales of their team members. The award-winning beauty brand, which previously gained consumer loyalty through such major retail outlets as Whole Foods Markets, recently evolved into a social-sales model and is already surpassing initial goals to take its product line directly to the people, according to the company. So, what makes Pangea different from other companies that market organic products? For starters, Pangea is certified organic. According to its founder Joshua Scott Onysko, Boulder, CO, “Many brands in the cosmetic market claim to be organic, but are still full or carcinogens. Pangea Organics’ products are full of things like Indian lemongrass, goji berries and Japanese matcha tea sourced from small, sustainable farms. There are very few of us brands who take being certified and honest to the consumers seriously. Another major difference is that Pangea Organics products work! Our products will outperform all other products, natural or not.” According to the company, Pangea products are formulated to amplify hydration, replenish the skin and support cellular regeneration through the highest quality nutrients, EFA-rich oils and nourishing plant botanicals. Organic ingredients ensure a higher density of nutrients, with significantly more antioxidants for better anti-aging results. Pangea leaves out synthetic fragrances, harmful preservatives, sulfates, detergents and inert fillers, with products that are exclusively gluten-free and non-GMO. Each customized blend is “Always Beneficial, Never Artificial,” according to the company tagline. The Pangea Organics product line currently includes facial cleanser, facial scrub, facial toner, facial mask, facial cream, balancing oil, eye cream, hand cream, bar soap, hand soap, body lotion, body oil, body wash, body polish and lip balm. In 2014, the brand will expand into hair care, noted Onysko. The company’s products are touted as offering a trip around the world, with key ingredients hailing from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Egypt, France, the Himalayas, India, Italy, Japan, Morocco, Nigeria, the Pyrenees and Turkey. With part of its mission to educate consumers, a comprehensive “Ingredient Glossary” is listed on the website, with descriptions and photos of each botanical used. For more than dozen years, Pangea Organics has earned more than 50 awards for its products as well as its responsible packaging and business practices. They include a 2011 Better Nutrition Magazine Best of Natural Beauty Award (French Rosemary & Sweet Orange Facial Toner), 2009 Allure Magazine Best of Beauty Award (Himalayan Geranium & Pomegranate Balancing Oil) and Allure Magazine Editor’s Favorites (Pyrenees Lavender with Cardamom Body Lotion), 2008 Women’s Health Favorite Earth-Friendly Beauty Product (Egyptian Calendula & Blood Orange Facial Cleanser) and “The Today Show” Best All-Natural Soaps (Pyrenees Lavender with Cardamom Bar Soap), and 2007 Redbook MVP Beauty Awards, Best Scrub (Egyptian Geranium with Adzuki Bean & Cranberry Facial Scrub) and Best Cleanser (Egyptian Calendula & Blood Orange Facial Cleanser), among many others. Onysko has high hopes that the new program will garner even more of a following for his unique line of organic personal care. He told Happi, “With the new social selling platform, we aim to not only empower people with the ability to create income by selling products they believe in, but also to inspire companies worldwide to rethink the way business is done. Having Beauty Ecologists all over the country will lead to getting the Pangea products to the hands of many more people … my goal for Pangea Organics is to change the industry forever! By becoming a Beauty Ecologist, people are making a conscious decision to become part of a global movement to enable the world to make better choices every day. We aim to educate the masses about clean healthy cosmetics and get this industry back to one based on health and not of fear.” More info: www.pangeaorganics.com
